Macromedia Releases Director MX for OS X


Macromedia has announced the immediate availability of Director MX for OS X, its professional application for creating interactive content for web, kiosks and optical media.

Director MX features integration with Macromedia's Flash MX.

"Macromedia Director MX is a major new version of a flagship product that has enabled unique solutions to business communication challenges for more than a decade," said Norm Meyrowitz, president of products, Macromedia. "Director provides a flexible, robust, and mature toolset that developers continue to depend on when they want to deliver the most compelling, interactive experiences both online and offline."

Users of Director MX can launch and edit Flash files from within Director. MX also supports multi-user games, streaming Flash video and real-time collaboration.

Director MX also ships with a copy of Flash Communication Server MX Personal Edition.

Available with both upgrade and new license pricing, Director MX can be purchased and downloaded immediately from Macromedia's online store. New licenses are $1,199 and upgrades from versions 8.0/8.5 cost $399. Education price for a new license is $499.

Director MX requires OS X 10.1 or higher. Localized French, German and Japanese versions will follow shortly.
