Apple states its on pace for first weekend iPhone record

"Customer response to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been extremely positive and preorders this weekend were very strong around the world," the company said in a statement. "We are on pace to beat last year's 10 million unit first-weekend record when the new iPhones go on sale September 25."

The launch appeared to go smoothly with the website and iOS store app working well with only a few glitches. Inventory seemed to be good for day one deliveries still available for some configurations. Rose Gold models appear to have sold out of initial allotment first. Being the newest color, I'd guess inventory may be the most volatile. There's no historic sales for a projections and some people may be more likely to go for the newest color.
