OS X Automated Security Update

Reuters:

The company decided to deliver the NTP bug fixes with its technology for automatically pushing out security updates, which Apple introduced two years ago but had never previously used, because it wanted to protect customers as quickly as possible due to the severity of the vulnerabilities

This was kind of weird for me. I saw from my Twitter feed there was an update. I saw a notification of an update, but quickly clicked it expecting to see it in the Mac App Store update. But it was already updated with no history of the update.

The good news is Apple can never be too proactive in vulnerability updates. I admit I turn off notifications because it's a pain in the butt and too big of a distraction. As a result security updates can go ignored for a period of time. On the other hand, I think these updates need to be documented better so the user is aware of what's happening, specifically show up in the Updates history.
