A look at the fizzling of Apple HDTV rumors

By

This is a pretty cool timeline. I forgot all about the iRing. That was a fun one.

Harry McCracken:
At this point, the Apple HDTV rumors have fizzled so decisively that when new ones come along, as they surely will, it won’t make any sense to assume that anything anyone has said so far is likely to be true. Instead, we can just start again on this topic from scratch–and the more skeptical we are this time around, the better.

An HDTV has always seem illogical for Apple. Apple’s best bet is still to figure out how to be input #1 in a TV. Whether that means producing cable boxes, using CableCards like Tivo, or HDMI pass-through similar to XBox One.
