AirDrop coming to iOS 7?

9 to 5 Mac reports:

Sources say that the AirDrop functionality is currently integrated into the standard iOS share menu. AirDrop will work between two iOS devices and potentially between an iOS device and a Mac. The feature will make it easier than ever to transfer, for example, a photograph or document from one person's iPhone to another person's iPad.

I rarely if ever use AirDrop on Mac just because of the handshake process, but then again, I don't really collaborate with other users across a LAN. For me Dropbox is the best "sneaker net" system. On iOS it's a different matter because there's no similar file system available to the user. iCloud docs in the cloud and photostream are a good ways to exchange files between devices on the same accounts, if the specific app support such features. This would bring things to another level, especially if users can share things among other users. It will be curious if this is a true peer-to-peer thing or whether it goes through iCloud as a clearinghouse. The later would seem to offer less security risks.
