Apple's latest iMac has taken a while to get rolling, particularly the 27-inch model. Over three months from its announcement, the iMac expecting shipping times have improved from 3-4 weeks to 1-2 days. Those times are for both the 21.5 and 27-inch stock models.
Curiously, however, any changes to the 21.5-inch model on Apple's online store bumps ship time to 7-10 days, and the 27-inch model 2-3 weeks. This is whether changing the CPU or just upgrading memory, or simply swapping out the mouse for a Magic Trackpad. Wild guess is Apple has been pumping out boxes of standard configured iMacs and any custom configurations will take a while to catch up.
