Sonos released version 3.8.3 of their iOS app for the company's wireless speaker systems. The new update now allows streaming of music directly to the speakers/receivers from iOS, similar to how AirPlay now works with supported devices such as the Apple TV. Previously the app was geared more towards a remote control which depended on a computer as a gateway for mobile playback. Beyond playing music housed on the iOS device, the Sonos app also can stream music from online services such as Pandora and Spotify. The Sonos apps are available for the iPad and iPhone/iPod touch. It's available free. It requires iOS 6 and it works with all Sonos gear including PLAY:3, PLAY:5, SUB, Control, Control:AMP
