Tapbots pulls dev build of Mac Tweetbot client

Developers of the popular iOS Twitter client Tweetbot removed the developmental build of its upcoming Mac OS X client. The move is in response to Twitters new API rules that limit the number of client tokens per third-party app. Since the client is freely available during its development, every person who tried it out took away from potential sales. Once a client hits its 100,000 user tokens (or 2x current users), the developer must go to Twitter for unclear reasons to no known end.

The company said the Mac Twitter client is proceeding, just won't be publicly available until for sale.

Just to be perfectly clear, Tweetbot for Mac will still be available for sale in the near future, we are just stopping the public part of the alpha/beta testing. We wish we could continue on but we didn't make the rules, we just have to live within them. Again sorry for the hassle and thank you very much to everyone that has provided valuable feedback during the alpha.
