QuickerTek recently announced an after-market upgrade for Apple's AirPort Extreme Base Station and Time Capsule backup/base station. The kit essentially retrofits the WiFi devices with an external antenna for improved reception and range. QuickerTek says the solution offers up to three times the range improvement using a 5dBi Tri-Band Articulated Antenna.
The kit is compatible with the current AirPort Extreme (August 2009) and also 1TB and 2TB Time Capsule. The kit is available in three options as a off-the shelf solution where the customer buys a new devices upgraded, a mail in option where customers send in their device for upgrade, or a DIY where the customer performs surgery at home. Pricing is $349.95, $179.95, and $129.95, respectively. Similar pricing is available for the Time Capsule, with $480 and $680 options on 1TB and 2TB models.
