Skype 3.0 for iOS gets video chat over WiFi and 3G

Late Wednesday Skype 3.0 hit the iTunes App Store. The main new feature is the addition of video chat, similar to Apple's FaceTime. Skype one-ups FaceTime, however, with support for video over 3G.

The update links other iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch 4G users, in addition to callers from Mac and Windows Desktops. On the iPad and iPod touch 3G, users can still partake by seeing video from the other caller if using a video enabled device or computer. The video works in portrait or landscape and also utilizes both the front and rear facing cameras.

In our tests it works pretty well over WiFi. On 3G, both audio and video quality wasn't comparable, but it worked.
