Here's a looking at using AirPrint with a shared USB printer connected to a Mac. iOS 4.2 currently only support wireless printing and AirPrint via compatible stand-alone HP printers. Using Printopia or Fingerprint, Mac users can share any USB printer wirelessly with their iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.
