Office for Mac 2011 hits shelves in October

Microsoft announced Monday official pricing and a launch timeframe for the next major revision of its Mac Office suite. Microsoft is releasing Office for Mac 2011 in 13 difference languages in more than 100 countries.

Office for Mac 2010 is slated to ship by the end of October, and will sell in two bundles. A Home & Student edition will resell for $119 and Home & Business version will sell for $199. Each version will ship with a family pack that permits multiple installations for $149 and $249, respectively. The Home & Student will permit three installs, and the Home & Business will permit two.

The difference between the two bundles is the Home & Business ship with the new Outlook for Mac. Both versions ship with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Messenger for Mac 8. Even if you purchase the Home & Student, however, users will be able to add on Outlook down the road with an electronic purchase.

In addition to the two versions, Microsoft is also selling an Academic Edition for $99 that looks to be the same as the Home & Office.

Microsoft also said that users buying Office 2008 from August 1st qualify for a free upgrade to Office 2011 when it ships.
