OWC adds memory for new iMacs
July 28th 2010

Company offers path for up to 50% savings on DIY upgrades vs Apple Store.

Other World Computing Wednesday announced the addition of RAM upgrades for the new 2010 iMacs. The upgrades come in 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB kits. The iMac contains four memory slots for a maximum of 16 GB DDR3 1333 MHz. The base configurations from Apple leave two slots open.

As it often is, Apple's built-to-order options have a significant premium on upgrades. Users are wise to tackle customer-install items on their own to save a few bucks. The memory upgrades on the iMac is a pretty simple task and OWC offers guides for doing so. OWC states that with their old memory trade in, customers can save up to 50% over Apple's pricing.

Kits are priced at $117.99, $279.99, and $549.99 for the 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB packages.
