DockXtender acts as data extension cord for Apple's iDevice docks [u]

CableJive announced Wednesday an extension product for Apple's iPhone, iPod, iPad products.

The DockXtender is a 30-pin male to female cable compatible with Apple's dock connectors. The device is essentially an extension cord to be place between and iPhone, iPad, or compatible iPod and a docking device. For example, lets say you want to use a speaker system with an iPod dock, rather than docking the iPod, you could plug the cable into the dock and hold the iPad in your hand. Or, the cable could simple be used to extend any 30-pin dock cable.

The product is an update to the company's previous dock extension product. CableJive says the new DockXtender has a smaller device connector so to fit any known iPhone case, specifically some designs from Otterbox. Other improvements include adding component and composite video, which is possible by utilizing all 30 pins of the docking system. Lastly CableJive added dual shielding which separates the video and audio signals for better signal integrity. The company promises that the product remains flexible with a thin cable design.

The DockXtender is available in two or six foot lengths for $25.95 and $31.95 respectively from CableJive
