Apple re-showed off its forthcoming iPhone OS 3.0 software Monday at WWDC. The presentation was largely a recap of the an earlier preview, but added a few new tidbits. Apple presented the over 100 new features Monday at WWDC. Highlights include copy/cut/paste, landscape keyboard, and MMS messaging. Apple also showed off a Find My iPhone feature connected to MobileMe, which will help users locate a lost iPhone. Even giving out a 30 Rock reference, users will be able to track down their phone, and have it emit an audio alert even if it is on vibrate. Apple announced tethering with the iPhone, although it apparently will not be supported by AT&T. At least right now. Tethering allows users to connect their mobile phone to a computer, and use the phone’s data access as Internet access. The system is nifty, allowing connections either via USB or Bluetooth, but hard to get too excited about something that you can’t use. Also announced, OS 3.0 will allow users to purchase and rent movies directly from the handset, rather than via iTunes application. Lastly Apple announced iPhone OS 3.0 will be available for download on June 17. The upgrade will be free to all iPhone customers and a $10 fee to iPod Touch owners.
