Why is someone using an umbrella on a sunny SoCal day? In a enthusiastic bit of analysis, a YouTube video sets out to prove the Microsoft Lauren ad is fake. It’s fake because the ad proves Lauren, allegedly, never really enters the Apple Store to compare Mac laptops. The ad depicts the same perambulating pedestrians in both shots of her entering and leaving the store. The conclusion: she simply waked into the store foyer and walked out, not actually shopped. Or perhaps the Apple Store is rip in the space-time continuum. While it does smell of Microsoft home cooking, and the ad itself shouldn’t be taken this seriously, one plausible explanation is the event was simply exercised for the camera. In other words, a re-enactment for cinematic appeal. But that’s the problem of “real” people commercials… Anything “fake” just makes the premise all that more contrived. Enjoy,
