Nehalem Xeons in production; updated MacPro around the corner?

Big iron watchers are keeping their eyes on the Nehalem Xeon status. Based on what's available, that's the brains most likely to go into the next revision of the Mac Pro.

Per The Register, Intel confirmed the Nehalem Xeon EP chips are in current production and expects to see them in systems by the end of March.

"We are currently in production, and we expect to have a system introduction later this quarter. So it is imminent."

The processors are expected to peak out at 3.2 GHz, but offer significant improvements over same clock speeds of current architecture in addition to a reduction in power consumption.
