Create a keyboard shortcut for any menu command

You know, IGM comment poster "Deanster" (Microsoft Office a habit, not a necessity) is absolutely right to complain that Apple should have included a keyboard shortcut in Numbers for exporting a spreadsheet as an Excel (.xls) document. The mothership's implementation is more after thought than key functionality.

Happily enough there is a really simple and powerful way to implement the feature Deanster wants right now.

LifeHacker's Adam Pash has a short, sweet and complete tutorial on how to make any menu command into a keyboard shortcut.

MacBook Air - The Thinnest Notebook

① Open the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane in your System Preferences and click on the Keyboard Shortcuts tab.
--Click the "All controls" radio button

② Click the little plus (+) sign

③ Choose the application (Ed--I had to manually find and add Numbers) you want to assign a shortcut for from the drop-down

④ Then, enter the exact name of the menu command (ie Export...) you want to execute

⑤ Then just pick your keyboard shortcut (ie ⌘ + option + shift + E), click Add, and voilĂ --you've successfully added a new shortcut to your Mac.

Pretty slick, huh? Now, if I could solve Deanster's Keynote to PowerPoint 2007 compatibility issue (heck, if I could get identical PCs, running identical software to interoperate), I'd be able to retire tomorrow.
