Apple announces M-series powered MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini

Apple Tuesday rolled out the first Macs using the company's new desktop/laptop processors. Based on the M1, the CPUs mark the start of a platform shift for the Mac.

â€"The introduction of three new Macs featuring Apple’s breakthrough M1 chip represents a bold change that was years in the making, and marks a truly historic day for the Mac and for Apple,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. â€"M1 is by far the most powerful chip we’ve ever created, and combined with Big Sur, delivers mind-blowing performance, extraordinary battery life, and access to more software and apps than ever before. We can’t wait for our customers to experience this new generation of Mac, and we have no doubt it will help them continue to change the world.”

The new Macs seem to mostly showcase the new silicon rather than bring major changes on their own. Many of the features touted were using Apple's own software and the upcoming macOS Big Sur.

All three computers are available to order today. Apple said it will begin shipping products next week. Pricing fairly aggressive with no increases and price for the mini. Pricing starts at $999 for the MacBook Air, $1299 for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and $699 for the Mac mini.
