Apple announces new iPad Air, iPad 8th Gen

Apple today introduced two new iPad models, refreshing two of its three iPad lines. The new iPad Air brings many features found in the iPad Pro along with iPad Pro looks. The iPad 8th Generation offers greater performance and features for Apple's entry price point.

The iPad Air will be attractive for people who may not be too interested in some iPad Pro premium features. Essentially, the iPad Air lacks a Pro Motion 120hz display, Face ID, ultra-wide rear camera, and lidar functionality. Otherwise, there are many similarities between the two devices.

The new iPad Air has Apple's newest CPU in the A14 Bionic. It will be interesting to see how this compares to the iPad Pro A12Z processor. The iPad 8th Gen comes with the A12 processor. The Air is compatible with Apple's current second-gen Apple Pencil and new Magic Keyboard.

The new iPad Air starts at $599 and will be available in October. The new iPad 8th Gen starts at $329 and is available starting September 18.
