watchOS 7 Preview

Today at Apple's virtual World Wide Developer Conferenec, the company showcased updates to its product platforms. The watchOS will feature some expected features like sleep tracking and also timely features for washing hands.

Personalization is taken to an entirely new level with shareable and discoverable watch face configurations, while sleep tracking, automatic handwashing detection, additional workout types including dance, and a new hearing health feature give greater insight into overall well-being and are designed with privacy in mind. Conveniently on the wrist, Maps is updated with cycling directions and Siri now offers language translation.

The new sleep function brings popular features available from third-party developers into watchOS. The native feature promises to use the Apple Watch's various sensors to evaluate a night's sleed and help develop good sleeping habits.

The handwashing feature looks like a clever way of automatically detecting when someone is washing their hands and provide cues for the recommended 20-second washing routine. Apple says it uses motion sensors, the microphone and on-device AI to figure out when you're washing your hands.

Also includes are many other features around watch face customizations, sharing, and exercise features.

For the first time, Apple will offer a public beta of watchOS later this summer. The final release will be available in the fall.
