New Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR

Designed for maximum performance, expansion and configurability, the all-new Mac Pro features workstation-class Xeon processors up to 28 cores, a high-performance memory system with a massive 1.5TB capacity, eight PCIe expansion slots and a graphics architecture featuring the world’s most powerful graphics card. It also introduces Apple Afterburner, a game-changing accelerator card that enables playback of three streams of 8K ProRes RAW video simultaneously.

The cheese grater is back with Apple's long-promised Mac Pro. The new Mac is designed for maximum performance, and unlike the previous Mac Pro, is likely to have a longer life with improved modular design for upgrading. The stainless steel design can muster 1,400 watts of power and push 300 cubic feet per minute of air to cool it down.

The stats are kind of mind-boggling, which likely will be only surpassed by the eventual price tag. Xeon process up to 28 cores, 12 DIMM slots supporting up to 1.5 TB memory, 8 PCIe slots, and support for two Vega II Duo GPUs for 128 GB of memory. The maximum graphics option is capable of pushing 56 teraflops of data. Apple also announced Afterburner add on for video editors that can simultaneously decode 12 streams of 4K ProRes RAW video or three streams of 8K.

The Mac Pro is expected to ship this fall. Pricing starts out at $6000 for base specs.

Pro Display XDR features a massive 32-inch Retina 6K display with gorgeous P3 wide and 10-bit color, an extreme 1,600 nits of peak brightness, an incredible 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a superwide viewing angle, all at a breakthrough price point. Together, the new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR are the most powerful tools Apple has ever put in the hands of pro customers and will change pro workflows forever.

Apple announced a new display, the first in several years. The display offers edge-to-edge glass and connects to the Mac Pro via Thunderbolt 3 cable. The new Mac Pro is cable of running six of the Pro Display XDR displays.

The Pro Display XDR will start at $4,999 and too is expected to ship this fall.
