iFixit tear down reveal mixed bag of upgradability for iMac Pro

iFixit tore apart the new iMac Pro. The good news is that the memory is upgradable and perhaps too the CPU, but the bad news is the system's design makes upgrades or repairs very difficult. The storage SSD modules are similarly accessible, however, they're custom Apple components, which may make it difficult to replace. The real bad news is the GPU is soldered in place. GPU in particular, but overall this seems crazy to me on a $5000 workstation. To me, the idea of a major investment in a workstation is you'll spread the cost of the machine over several years.

iFixit gives the iMac Pro a 3 out of 10 on its repairability scale.
