Pre-Aproval process available for existing iPhone Upgrade Program

The iPhone Upgrade Program allows interest-free financing through Apple on iPhone upgrades. This is the third cycle of the program and Apple has made improvements again for this year. Now upgraders don't have to visit a store to complete their upgrade; they can ship their trade-in device to Apple. A change this year is Apple is allowing customers in the program to pre-approve their upgrade.

The Upgrade Program has been a challenge for those wanting to get a device on launch day. As mentioned, before you had to go into stores on typically chaotic launch days, but also the process was complicated with a loan application. This pre-approval process is intended to simplify the process so you can check out quicker. Quicker check out improves the chances of getting the device you want.

New iPhones are typically a challenge to get for launch. If you don't purchase shortly after the window opens, you'll likely not be in the first batch of shipments for launch day. This year is expected to be especially difficult as there are many reports of production issues hampering Apple's ramp up for launch.

To be pre-approved, use the Apple Store app and you must currently be in the upgrade program. Those new to the program will have to go through the approval process at purchase.
